COVID-19 – Keeping the Planning System on Track

1st April 2020

The Coronavirus (Scotland) Bill was laid before Scottish Parliament on the 31st March 2020. It is to be discussed over the next few days beginning 1st April before adoption. See link to Parliamentary Business – https://lnkd.in/gUkh_Z2 It reflects real collaboration, creativity and commitment amongst key stakeholders. It will impact on the planning system. If adopted, it will extend by 1 year any planning permission that would otherwise lapse in the next 6 months. There are still a number of issues to be resolved, such as pre-application consultation within the current ‘social distance’ constraints, and the ‘remote’ process for determining planning applications. Further guidance is expected on these matters.

In the meantime, we have set out below a summary of what each planning authority is currently doing in response to the COVID-19 situation. The planning landscape is in a state of major flux. Please get in touch if you need planning support (e) (m) 07464 744337
